LCD2004 Parallel LCD Display with IIC/I2C Interface
If you’re considering adding visual output to your Arduino projects, a display is a crucial component. For projects requiring minimal display capabilities, the LCD2004 Parallel LCD Display with IIC/I2C interface offers an excellent solution.
This display module provides a simple and cost-effective means of integrating a 20×4 White on RGB Liquid Crystal Display into your project setup. With its 20 characters by 4 lines display format, it offers sufficient space for displaying essential information.
Featuring a high-contrast white text on a blue background with backlighting, this display ensures clear and legible text for enhanced visibility. Its blue backlight adds to its visual appeal, making it suitable for various Arduino-based projects.
One notable advantage of this display module is its I2C interface, which overcomes the drawback of the standard LCD2004 Parallel LCD Display. With the I2C adapter soldered directly onto the display pins, only the I2C pins need to be connected, significantly reducing the pin count required on the Arduino. This simplifies the wiring process and minimizes the amount of coding required.
The I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) is a serial bus protocol developed by Philips, utilizing two bidirectional lines: SDA (Serial Data Line) and SCL (Serial Clock Line). These lines are connected via pulled-up resistors, and the usage voltages are standard at both 5V and 3.3V.
Overall, the LCD2004 Parallel LCD Display with IIC/I2C interface offers an efficient and convenient solution for adding visual output to your Arduino projects, making it ideal for applications requiring minimal display capabilities.
If you already have the I2C adapter soldered onto the board like in this product, the wiring is quite easy. You should usually have only four pins to hook up. VCC and GND of course. This display works with 5 Volts. So we go for the 5V Pin.
The values shown on the display can be either a simple text or numerical values read by the sensors, such as temperature or pressure, or even the number of cycles that the Arduino is performing.
